About Me
I am Otávio Vieira or just Ota and I have been practicing Yoga since 2004, when I first learned it in Denmark from Roland Bartes, a Cuban Hatha Yoga instructor. Since then I have practiced by myself until the year 2013, when then I started getting in touch with different spiritual communities and sacred texts. These contacts resonated to me as a call to spread the knowledge, and ended up in me developing a communitarian free Yoga project in Brasília, Brazil, where I began teaching Yoga; from this wonderful experience I made friends who invited me to work in different places, enabling me to further develop the teaching of Yoga. Feeling that it was time to break through, learn and deepen my personal practice further, in 2014 I went to India and Sri Lanka to study and practice Yoga (The Yoga Institute - Bombay), Buddhist meditation (Vipassana Meditaiton of Goenka Tradition) as well as one more massage technique, the Thai Yoga Massage.
In 2013 I did the Ayurvedic Massage course with Jiwan Mukta, in Brazil, and in 2015 I completed the Thai yoga Massage course in Mysore, India, with Raghavendra C., at Imosha School of Healing Arts. Although they were new therapies for me, both Yoga and the two mains types of massages I work with are strictly related, as they focus on physical healing, energy flowing and self knowledge through the exploration and observation of the mind.
In 2018 I started the PhD in Religious Science at Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF). I have researched on Buddhist meditation, more specifically the Vipassana Meditation of Theravada Buddhism. I defended my thesis in 2022.
Presently I also work with some eastern massage techniques, like Deep Tissue and Miofascial Release, plus Vietnamese Massage, which I had the chance to study in Hue, Vietnan, in 2024
Saying that, then:
Sit straight, relax and be attentive! Explore yourself… coz wisdom comes from kowledge of the inner self, not from the outer World.
